A lady gave me to her husband as a gift for their wedding: She had seen me perform in a corporate setting and said her husband loved comedy. So she wanted me to do a comedy set at their reception.

It was a top secret affair located at their water front home.

I was to get there right after the wedding. Exactly at 5 pm.

I was to talk to no one just go into the side door.

I pulled into the driveway and parked. On the mail box were balloons and a sign that said “Welcome to our Special Day.”

I snuck down the forested driveway,  went in the side door.

I poured myself a glass of water and sat in the living room.

After a few minutes something didn’t feel quite right.

It was very quiet. Too quiet. Eerily quiet.

I looked around and the house was too tidy.

There were hunting hats lined up and an open beer out on the table. There were no party favours. No paper plates. No sign of any prep.

Suddenly I heard the sound of people laughing and when I looked out the window I saw people in a white tent on the property next door.

That was when I realized I was in the wrong house.

So I washed the glass and put it back in the cupboard. And snuck out of the wrong house and snuck in the right one.

It all worked out. I told the story as the opener for my set.  Everyone found it hilarious especially the people in the front row.

Whose house I broke into!
